Is the Ecotones Sound Therapy Machine a good investment or not?
Ecotones is by far our favorite brand when it comes to sleep machines. It didn’t take us too long to decide to review another one of their products which is the Ecotones Sound Therapy Machine.
We’ve always thought of a sleep machine as a great investment. A sleep machine causes no risky side affects and it has already been proven over and over that sleep machines really do work. But what does the Ecotones Sound Therapy Machine have to offer that other sound machines do not?
- First, the Ecotones Sound Therapy Machine the only sound therapy system that listens and adapts to your environment. This feature goes 3 ways: manual mode is when you set the machine to a user set volume that you prefer, which obviously doesn’t take advantage of the adaptive sound technology. The second mode is the adaptive mode. This is useful for masking annoying background sounds since the machine itself will automatically change the sound depending on it’s environment. The third one is the background mode. The background mode is our personal favorite because it is triggered by how quiet or noisy the room is. So in case you suddenly have a conversation with anyone inside the room, the volume will be dimmed automatically.

The Sound Oasis S-650-01 Sleep Sound Therapy System features features such as our patented Sleep Enhancement technology that slows down sound playback to lull you to sleep. Overall, the Sound Oasis S-650-01 is an effective machine. Majority of the customers who purchased the sound sleep machine were very satisfied with their new acquisition. The price is also relatively affordable for the features packed into it. It may not be the most popular sleep machine but it does it job well.

Sound Oasis Travel Sound Therapy System, as the name implies, is geared towards people who are often out of their homes. Travel-wise, this sound machine includes a travel pouch, weighs only 4 pounds, can be powered by 4 AA batteries (not included) or by an adapter, and has a global ac adapter kit (so it could fit most sockets), and it has a headphone jack so you can use it everywhere. It even has a Jet Lag Reduction sound.
As for the other features, this travel sound machine has 17 authentic, hi-def sounds. These sounds are: Ocean Surf, North Woods, Thunderstorm, White Noise, Night Train, Spring Rain, Island Surf, Bonfire, Stream, Hidden Cove, Wind, Asian Garden, Song Birds, Harbor Swell, Bamboo Chimes, Summer Night, Cooling Fan, Rain Forest. Tranquil Moments really seem like a well-researched sleep machine which we expect to perform perfectly but unfortunately does not live up to its standards.

What we don’t like about Tranquil Moments sleep therapy system
- Annoying bright light coming from the machine
- questionable durability
- Won’t be able to block sounds that has too much bass
Most complaints regarding this machine revolve around the very bright light emitted by the machine and the fact that after the warranty expires, the product just stops working altogether. In terms of effectiveness, this sound machine does the trick. For the price though, we would recommend getting something sturdier that would be worth your investment.

The Sound oasis sound therapy system already has 6 built-in nature sounds. Apart from these 6 default sounds, you can purchase additional sound cards from $14 – $22. The ability to change sound cards is a great advantage especially since sound machines are meant to be long-term investments.
Other features include a timer that can be set at 30mins, 60 mins, and 90 minutes. The volume automatically reduces gradually until it automatically turns off. This sound sleep machine is also great for travelers since it can be powered by 4 “AA” batteries (not included).
What we like about Sound oasis sound therapy system
- Good default selection of sound
- Ability to use sound cards for additional sound selection
- No “loop” sound
- Can be powered by 4 “AA” batteries
- Sleep timer with sound that automatically fades out until off
What we don’t like about Sound oasis sound therapy system
- Difficulty to insert cards
- Sound port can easily be damaged
- Machine durability (some customers report that the unit just “dies” off after a couple of months)
Our recommendation
Overall, the sound oasis sound therapy system seems like a good buy considering the price and the features packed in the unit. The ability to be powered by batteries is a huge plus especially for the frequent traveler. However, the number of users reporting that their units stopped working only after a couple of few months is a huge turn off. The machine’s durability may be questionable at this point. It would be better to invest on a better sound machine (even if it would mean shelling out a few more bucks) that would generally last longer to make the most of your investment.
