it works, and it works well, for its intended purpose. We tried the various sounds (rainfall; nature; etc.) but found that the actual “white noise” setting works best. We like the fact that you can set the volume control and the pitch to achieve a soothing sound.
I occasionally have trouble getting to sleep and sleeping pills leave me groggy in the morning. My Duet does the trick. For the last several nights, I have fallen asleep in 20 minutes or so. Of course since there are no drugs, there are no more groggy mornings.
The sounds that help me sleep the most are the evening meadow and the babbling brook. The ocean is also nice, but I haven’t tried it yet at night. The noise masking feature works well although that is not why I bought the unit.
This product has saved my sanity. If you can’t sleep, life is just hard. I live in an apartment and this machine effectively covers the noise of late night TV watching by my neighbors. It evens out the noise in my room and allows me to enter a peaceful, deep sleep. It’s funny, when I wake up in the middle of the night to pee I don’t hear it at first, I have to remind myself it’s on and then I hear it. It’s like my brain uses it as background noise and it filters out all the other background noise. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MACHINE! It has so many “sound stories”, my favorites are the heavy rain, the meadow and the ocean. It’s nice to have choices! I don’t have a lot of money, but I was happy to spend $130 on this item. It works. It really does!
Since we got the machine they sleep through the night almost every night. Naptime lasts longer and my babies are more rested and I am happier. I can’t recommend this machine enough.
If someone told you they could improve your sleep for $150 you’d probably say “Sign me up.” This machine will do that.
Having purchased four different sound machines, I can say that this is the best built and most functional of the machines with the most realistic sounds. It is a solid, heavy, well built instrument that offers a variety of sounds for you to choose from to block outside sounds.
